Angelina Jolie looked skinner than ever as she arrived at the Berlin premiere of Salt.

The 35-year-old actress chose a long black BCBG Max Azria dress to conceal her tiny figure, but couldn’t hide her protruding shoulder blades and painfully thin arms in the halterneck number.

And even her dramatic black BCBG Max Azria stone necklace did little to detract from her noticeably skinny figure.

It is not the first time Angelina has been criticised for being too thin.

In 2007, the mother-of-six spoke about the criticism, and said any weight loss was down to the death of her mother Marcheline Betrand.

She said: ‘I’ve always been lean and this year I lost my mom and I’ve gone through a lot.

‘Instead of people saying I look like a person dealing with something emotionally, they assume it’s because I want to fit into skinny jeans.

British brand Belstaff this weekend dressed Prince Harry at the Asprey World Class Polo Match. Dissatisfied with dressing half of Hollywood, the label provided a custom-made jacket for the young Royal.

“Prince Harry is a very stylish and sexy man,” said Belstaff jackets ‘ ceo Manuele Malenotti ahead of the event. “It is an honour for him to wear our clothes. I’m very proud to be supporting the Price’s Sentebale foundation and am very excited to be meeting him.”

Belstaff jacket has also recently dressed the entire Pitt-Jolie family.

“The whole family loves our product,” said Malenotti. “Even the kids Knox and Maddox are fans. I don’t have words for how good Angelina looks in our designs but perhaps sexy, elegant but casual. Meeting Brad is always great too. He is a very humble, quiet man.”

Suits, lace and leather – these trends, and others, all add up to surprisingly wearable Fall/Winter 2010 collections.

Are designers playing safe for Fall? Yes, and no.

Fashion tends to follow the dictates of the economy and is a reflection of our times. That’s why you can sort of chart the economy through hemlines, they say: if the economy’s up, so are hemlines; if it’s not so healthy, we’ll be wearing long skirts. But there will always be designers who will be different, which is what makes fashion fun and unpredictable!

So this season, apart from the noticeable wearability of clothes as seen at Prada and Celine, you get some geometric and graphic pieces from Balenciaga, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Zac Posen.

Generally, most designers have emphasised tailoring, with the focus, this time around, being on what people could actually wear – it’s not easy to translate fantastical runway clothes into everyday wear but several collections managed it quite well for Fall/Winter 2010.

Marc Jacobs, for one, had a safe collection, as did Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. Celine, under Phoebe Philo, is already a byword for perfect pieces to complete and complement an existing wardrobe; Gucci also brought out a collection of lovely, wearable clothes.

There are some things that will always remain true in Fall, though: leather and fur are still key trends and there was, as always, plenty of glamour and sparkle as well as a lot of richness in texture and fabric.

If Spring/Summer 2010 featured light leather in nude shades, Fall/Winter goes back to black leather.

3836652Humans have been wearing skins for their warmth and durability since the dawn of time. Though the methods of procurement have been questionable in the past, skins now come to us in more humane ways.

Why you need it now
Though leather is often the winter staple, shearling makes for a nice style change. It’s also bang on trend, as seen looking incredibly luxe on the winter runways of Burberry, especially when fused with leather.

What to look for
Warning: shearling does have its roots in bogan style, so be sure you go for a fashion-forward creation – Burberry did it best with tight-cropped leather and shearling jackets that had fashionistas fantasising about their own Top Gun moment.

fashion_trends-2009_2010-techno_folk-01Some women find dressing for work to be the highlight of their day. They believe fashion is art, personal style is a window into the soul, and Alber Elbaz is a god. Others wish it were socially acceptable to wear a tent. Either way, the rules that applied to the office (power suits, twinsets) have become as outdated as the typewriter. It’s a new decade, ladies. Break free! Here, five professional sartorialists underscore why everyone from Wall Streeters to the runway’s front row—yes, even we fashion editors rely a little too heavily on an unspoken uniform: Isabel Marant tops, Acne jeans, Hermès cuffs, and Yves Saint Laurent boots—could use a little inspiration.

The Romanticist
As the owner of her hip, eponymous boutique on Manhattan’s Lower East Side (Bern-hard Willhelm, Charles Anastase, Electric Feathers), Maryam Nassir Zadeh knows something about fashion. When it comes to her personal style, the 31-year-old goes the way of the quirky prep and sticks to what works: classic silhouettes in offbeat colors, long dresses, relaxed blazers, and sculptural jewelry. “I love to follow what’s in the air but wear what fits my body,” says Zadeh, who believes trends are for zombies. The designers who complete her? Rachel Comey, Vena Cava, and her latest find, French jeweler Marion Vidal. “I gravitate toward things that are noncommercial, things that have a spirit because they’re handmade,” she says. “In New York, it’s about dressing with ease. Actually, that sounds pretty European.”
